Johnson County Holding Routes
Local custody can take several forms. Warrensburg’s police building has a jail area and sally port, which supports short-term holding and booking. An arrest made elsewhere may go directly to the Johnson County Detention Center in Centerview. An agency can also release a person under lawful authority or arrange transport. No single official countywide municipal release list or separate long-term city jail serving all Johnson County municipalities was located.
Begin with the agency shown on the arrest, citation, incident report, or court case. Ask where the person was physically held and whether the agency released or transferred the person. If Centerview received the booking, the Sheriff’s custody record controls that part of the timeline. If the person stayed with a city agency, the police report and municipal court record are more useful. A city arrest does not automatically create a Johnson County jail booking.

Call the arresting agency with the full name, approximate arrest time, incident or case number, and date of birth if the agency requests it through an official channel. Ask which building held the person, when that agency’s custody ended, and whether the endpoint was release or transfer. Do not publish sensitive identifiers or send them to an unofficial address.

The Police Administrative Bureau publishes terms for police-report copies. The first page costs one dollar and each added page costs ten cents. Quality review can take several days, with an effort to make reports ready within ten business days. Those are Warrensburg police-report terms. They should not be applied to Sheriff jail records, a county booking photograph, or another city’s records.
Request the incident or arrest report with a narrow event date and report number. Ask separately for the public custody or transfer notation if it is not included. Request Johnson County Holding Records

The adult detention center at Centerview is separate from the Johnson County Justice Center in Warrensburg. The Justice Center houses court, clerk, prosecutor, and juvenile-detention functions. Juvenile custody information is confidential and does not belong in an adult released-person search. Do not run a public youth-name lookup. For an adult county booking, use the Sheriff. For an adult court order, use the proper clerk. For a short city hold, start with that police agency. The record boundaries follow the agency and type of proceeding, not the broad phrase “Johnson County jail.”

Johnson County Contract Transfers
Johnson County also houses people for outside agencies. Official Kansas City-area sources confirm municipal contract arrangements visible in the Centerview roster. Grandview states that a person held in Johnson County must be transported back to Grandview before bond can be posted. Raytown withholds transport-van timing for safety. Therefore, a Johnson County release timestamp may mark the start of transport to the originating city.
Record the holding agency and charge owner before telling anyone the person is free. Contact the city detention unit or court and ask whether return transport occurred. Johnson County Release Timing
No official material establishes one release time for municipal holding. Short holds depend on the arrest, court authority, booking decision, warrants, and transport. Do not promise an exit door, family waiting spot, transit option, or completion time without asking the custodian about the named event.
Document the time and source of each check. A live roster and notification portal can change. An agency record is more durable, and the court case may remain available after a short custody entry disappears. When records conflict, ask the office that created each item rather than selecting the most convenient timestamp.
